The Louisiana Tech women’s volleyball team dropped their home finale to the North Texas Mean Green, 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-21) Nov. 5 at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Tech dropped to 7-20, 2-11 Conference-USA on the season while North Texas improved to 24-2, 11-1 CUSA.
It was the final home match for seniors Nia Myah Johnson, Jacie McClure, Brooke Short and Marta Monne.
All four seniors made appearances in the match and helped guide the Lady Techsters to three tightly contested sets against a strong North Texas team.
Monne led the team with 12 kills and 15 digs in the match to up her team-leading double-double total to 13. Short was credited for 34 assists and five digs throughout the match. McClure finished with nine digs and Johnson had four kills in the third set when she came off the bench.
Freshmen Carter Mirich and Emily Boylin were also impressive throughout the match for the Lady Techsters.
Mirich finished the match with nine digs and six kills while Boylin finished with eight kills on 16 attacks.
Barbara Teakell and Amanda Chamberlain paced the Mean Green to the three set victory Sunday. Chamberlain finished with 18 kills while Teakell finished with 12 kills.
Nia Myah Johnson is a Houston, Texas native that transferred to Tech from Tyler Junior College before her junior year. She has totaled 152 kills, 146 digs and 33 total blocks throughout her time here at Tech.
Jacie McClure is a Baton Rouge native that leads the team with an average of 2.95 digs per set this season. McClure has also maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA off the court and has been named to three Conference-USA All-Academic teams.
Monne became the first Lady Techster since 2010 that received first team All-Louisiana honors. Monne was one of two players in Conference USA that recorded 300 digs and 300 kills last season. Monne has 966 kills along with 914 digs with one match remaining.
Short is a Murrieta, California native that etched her name in the record books this past season with her 2,000th career assist. She has been credited with 2,579 assists, and 694 digs throughout her time at Tech.
The Lady Techsters will finish the season Nov. 9 at Southern Miss with a match time at 6 p.m.
